His early experiences included a stint in Cash Control at Disney World in Florida, where he honed his financial acumen. Later, as a Computer Systems Analyst at Pepsi-Cola, Steve delved into the intricacies of technology-driven process. He then pivoted into the realm of workers’ compensation insurance as the head of the largest claims Third-Party Administrator (TPA) in Bangor. He also served as an Account Manager for CUNA Mutual Group for several years.

A Visionary Leader at Penobscot County Federal Credit Union

Steve’s crowning achievement came during his tenure as President and CEO of Penobscot County Federal Credit Union. Over 19 years, he transformed the credit union from a small entity into a thriving mid-sized institution. His strategic vision, commitment to member service, and innovative approach earned him the prestigious title of Maine Credit Union CEO of the Year in 2019.

In 2023, Steve joined Stearns Financial as an Executive Benefits Consultant, leveraging his expertise to guide clients through the intricacies of SERP retirement plans. His impact was immediate, prompting him to assume the role of Chief Operations Officer in 2024. Steve’s leadership will be instrumental in managing the organization’s rapid growth and fostering innovation.
